🎉 VICTORY ALERT: Business secures seat on new Greenprint advisory committee

Share This :

Put your hands together for our frontline testifiers, letter writers, and other grassroots mobilizers. We're thrilled to wind down this whirlwind week with another Victory Alert. The Southern California Association of Government's full Regional Council has voted unanimously to adopt the proposed RAMP Policy Framework we mobilized our members to push across the finish line!

This framework resets the SoCal Greeprint process and lays out a reworked, science-based approach that satisfies mitigation requirements without impeding housing and infrastructure development. It calls for a new vendor and the creation of a Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) with balanced perspectives.

The newly adopted language includes our BizFed-backed amendment to seat a business community representative on the advisory committee.

A NOTE OF THANKS...

We're grateful to SCAG leadership and staff for their efforts on this important issue and their willingness to hear the business community's concerns over the past 18 months to get it right. We also want to thank the following BizFed members for stepping up alongside Senior Policy Manager Chris Wilson to amplify the voice of business with impactful testimony at yesterday's Regional Council meeting.

Ray Baca, Engineering Contractors Association
Nayiri Baghdassarian, San Gabriel Valley Economic Partnership
Debbie Corlin, LA South Chamber
Donna Duperron, Torrance Chamber
Francella Fierro, Long Beach Area Chamber
Rich Lambros, Southern California Leadership Council
Mike Lewis, Construction Industry Air Quality Coalition
Benjamin Lopez, Inland Empire Economic Partnership
Connor Medina, Orange County Business Council
Esthela Pacheco, LA Area Chamber
Carlos Rodriguez, Building Industry Association

NEXT STEPS

Our work continues. Now that we've secured what amounts to a complete Greenprint reset, we need to shift our focus to ensuring sensible experts are appointed to serve on the new advisory committee. The TAC will comprise:

  • One member representing each county in the SCAG region (Imperial, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, and Ventura)
  • One member from each county transportation agency
  • Two city representatives from each county.

Look out for more intel in the coming weeks from our policy team – and expect a lively presentation at our upcoming Advocacy Committee meeting.

Onward!
