ACTION ALERT - Bill to eliminate county and private contracts to be heard next week AB 1250 (Jones-Sawyer) seeks to severely limit counties from contracting with private agencies. Even though the intent of the bill is to prevent public services from being privatized, the bill instead prevents county agencies from choosing the best and most effective resources available to them through private contracts. The bill is set to be heard in the Senate Committee on Governance and Finance next Wednesday and we urge you to contact the below committee members to express your opposition to the bill.
Senator Ed Hernandez, (916) 651-4022
Senator Robert Hertzberg, (916) 651-4018
Senator Jim Beall, (916) 651-4015
There are several organizations strongly opposed to the bill including the California State Association of Counties, the California Chamber of Commerce, and non-profits like the LA Food Bank. BizFed took an oppose position and you can read our letter here. For more information or if you have any questions please contact me at sarah.wiltfong@bizfed.org for more details.
