ACTION ALERT - Port Commissioners to Vote on Clean Air Action Plan
Dear Friends,
On Thursday, November 2nd, the commissioners of the Port of Los Angeles and Port of Long Beach will be voting on the final draft of the Clean Air Action Plan - a plan aimed at reducing air emissions from ships, trucks, cargo-handling equipment, locomotives and harbor craft.
Thank you to the BizFed members who have submitted comments and joined us for our meetings with both ports and mayors to express our concerns with the CAAP.
We ask that you make one more attempt and join us on November 2nd to make sure our voices our heard!

On Monday, that final draft of the plan was released. We are pleased to announce that the ports implemented one of our major revisions - they included language to allow near-zero technologies for cargo-handling equipment and heavy-duty trucks. This is a great addition and we are thankful to the mayors and ports for listening to our concerns.
However, the plan still falls short on key elements for which BizFed members have lobbied:
***The plan still does not include a competitive action plan and a cost-effectiveness study.***
These asks are not unreasonable, the plan should include common sense studies to measure it's economic feasibility and cost/benefits before proceeding with such high goals. We strongly believe that our air and maintaining our competitiveness are not mutually exclusive and can be done hand in hand if done right.
We need your help! This is our final push to make sure important amendments are placed into a plan that will have a dramatic impact on our ports and the way we do business in SoCal. Please join us for this important vote.
