BizFed PAC is on the move! We issued a press release to hundreds of local media contacts yesterday to announce our endorsements for several key 2022 elections. As a member of Team BizFed who wears two hats – BizFed Policy Consultant and BizFed PAC Consultant – I want to loop you in on what our political action committee is up to, and urge all LA-area voters to get out the vote.

The June 7 Primary Election is only 5 days away!

BizFed PAC has thrown its weight behind a cadre of sensible, jobs-minded candidates in closely watched local races following weeks of high-intensity candidate interviews. Here are the notable candidates we flagged for media outlets. (We didn't want to bog busy reporters down with the full list, but you can view all 45+ endorsements by clicking the button at the bottom of this email.)

  • Rick Caruso for LA City Mayor
  • Hydee Feldstein Soto for LA City Attorney
  • Hilda Solis for the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors (District 1)
  • Bob Hertzberg for the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors (District 3)
  • Robert Luna for Los Angeles County Sheriff
  • Suzie Price for Long Beach City Mayor
  • Cliff Numark for City of Torrance Mayor

City of Los Angeles
Business philanthropist and LA mayoral candidate Rick Caruso earned BizFed PAC’s endorsement with his track record of cleaning up complex problems, commitment to implementing balanced solutions that benefit all Angelenos, clear roadmap for fixing the city’s most pressing issues, and proven managerial skills. His promise to root out City Hall dysfunction while building 30,000 shelter beds in his first 300 days will address not only municipal corruption and homelessness, but also crime, legislative gridlock, and housing shortages. His results-oriented, common sense-driven approach to governance will create good-paying jobs, support a robust business community, and restore LA as a beacon of opportunity for all.

LA city attorney candidate Hydee Feldstein Soto is also a political outsider with a legacy of holding government to account. She has decades of experience navigating structural issues and has managed teams of attorneys on some of the nation’s most complex legal matters. Like Caruso, Feldstein Soto is a leader free from political influence who feels called to public service. She has crafted detailed plans for expanding justice, essential city services, and local authority in all LA communities. BizFed PAC is proud to endorse a city attorney candidate with Feldstein Soto’s legal acumen and long-range vision.

County of Los Angeles
Hilda Solis has always championed a stronger economy by implementing policies that create better paying jobs for more people. She has unmatched experience in Congress, in the U.S. Cabinet, and on the LA County Board of Supervisors. During her tenure as Chair of the Board of Supervisors, Solis served as a partner to the business community, advancing pragmatic solutions throughout the coronavirus pandemic and consistently keeping her door open for BizFed members representing all sectors. She is uniquely qualified to fix problems related to jobs, housing, transportation, public safety, and health in LA, as well as complex issues at the intersection of various policy areas. BizFed PAC endorses Solis for county supervisor and applauds her record of success in this role.

Bob Hertzberg has been a tireless advocate for the San Fernando Valley and Greater LA for decades. The high-velocity former Assembly Speaker and Senate Majority Leader Emeritus is known for brokering tough negotiations and building ambitious projects. Hertzberg launched Metro’s Orange Line and the construction of the CSU Northridge Valley Performing Arts Center, and helped fund the construction and modernization of 38 Valley schools. He also fought to pass legislation expanding support for small businesses. Like Solis, Hertzberg’s legislative achievements span numerous policy areas: housing, criminal justice, education, and sustainability, to name a few. BizFed PAC is proud to endorse Hertzberg for county supervisor because he knows how to make government work – and he knows business makes this county work.

Robert Luna is a bridge-building, no-nonsense leader who has the integrity necessary to restore public trust in the sheriff’s department. He has served as City of Long Beach Police Chief for seven years and is a 36-year veteran of the Long Beach Police Department. His approach to community policing was shaped by his lived experience growing up in a working class, immigrant family in East Los Angeles. Luna understands the value of connecting with people in the neighborhoods he protects and serves. With crime on the rise and public safety a top concern for business leaders – and all Angelenos – Luna is precisely the kind of experienced, compassionate leader we need to clean up our streets and the sheriff’s department.

Our Reach Extends Beyond LA
BizFed PAC is unique in its ability to impact races throughout the region. In fulfilling our mission to comprehensively support forward-thinking, quality candidates, the PAC made several key endorsements in Long Beach, Torrance and other cities.

BizFed PAC endorsed Long Beach Councilmember Suzie Price for mayor of Long Beach. A small business owner herself, Price is keenly aware of the importance of economic development. Her comprehensive plan for jobs growth will ensure the innovation and progress that Long Beach needs to stay vibrant. Price is a proven fighter for working families and job creators with a track record of standing strong on pragmatic, pro-jobs policies that empower existing and future business owners – the people who fuel our region’s economy.

BizFed PAC endorsed Cliff Numark for mayor of in the City of Torrance. Numark’s background in the private and public sectors arm him with insight and experience few others in government can draw from. The businessman, elected El Camino College Trustee and former Torrance City Councilmember is a coalition builder with actionable plans to tackle Torrance’s toughest issues: homelessness, business growth, budget bleeding, public safety, school-city partnerships, and support for seniors.

BizFed PAC also endorsed Ara Najarian, Vrej Agajanian, and Anita-Quiñonez-Gabrielian for Glendale City Council, in addition to dozens of other candidates across the region. With voting already voting underway during California’s historically busy “Election Month,” PAC activities are in full swing to support public servants dedicated to putting constituents first.

Get out the vote!
