Changes to AB 5
AB 2257 and Proposition 22

This last legislative session proved to be unique in every way. Hundreds of bills were dropped to focus on COVID-19 including a number of pieces of potential housing legislation.

However, one bill did make it through that will have a lasting impact on our economy. AB 2257 made significant changes to AB 5, the worker classification law passed last year. In addition to other modifications, the law makes further industry exemptions.

BizFed Informs presents a program looking in-depth at AB 2257, describing what the law says and how it will ultimately affect business. Megan Lane, Chief Consultant of the Assembly Labor & Employment Committee will join us to lead the conversation.

We will also highlight another AB 5 related policy. This time in the form of a ballot referendum. Proposition 22 is on the ballot just one week after this program and Lauren Hepler, a reporter with CalMatters will discuss what will happen if Prop 22 passes or fails and details on the proposition.
