LOCAL BUSINESSES AND ASSOCIATIONS GRAB SACRAMENTO’S EAR
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Feb. 25, 2019) – Members of both the Los Angeles County Business Federation, BizFed, and Central Valley Business Federation, BizFed Central Valley, are heading to the state capitol on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2019, to talk with key legislators about some of the biggest issues facing California businesses today from air quality to housing.
“Understanding what our legislators are working toward is vital to business leaders as they plan for the future,” said Tracy Hernandez, Founding CEO, BizFed. “Legislators need to know how their proposals will affect the ability of businesses to provide services, products and jobs to our regions; BizFed decided to bring the two together for a day of intel sharing.”
This is BizFed’s inaugural Sacramento Day event.
The Los Angeles County Business Federation, BizFed, began in 2008 as a grassroots effort to join businesses and associations together to help amplify the voice of business. Over 10 years, BizFed grew to include more than 180 business associations.
Companies in the Central Valley who were also members of BizFed saw how working together on tough issues helped the Los Angeles County economy and sought to bring that success to the Central Valley.
In 2017, BizFed Central Valley, a franchise of BizFed, was created. It currently has more than 50 companies and top business associations from Madera to Kern counties. It began holding its first board meetings, and taking action on issues, in February 2018.
“Valley businesses and associations have been doing a great job speaking up for our economy,” said Lois Henry, Advocacy Director, BizFed Central Valley. “BizFed CV has been working to help them unite and speak with a much louder voice.”
Nearly 70 BizFed members will attend exclusive panel discussions in both the Eureka Room in the morning and Room 126 in the evening at the state capitol. Each panel is geared around a specific topic area: Energy, Utilities & Communications; Air Quality; Revenue & Taxation; Housing; and California Legislative Leadership.
The event will kick off at 10 a.m. with a welcome by Asm. Chris Holden, Chair of the Utilities and Energy Committee.
