Victory Alert: MWD Board Unanimously Approves Funding for Clean, Affordable Water

Share This :
Yesterday, the Metropolitan Water District (MWD) Board of Directors voted unanimously to fund the next phase of the Delta Conveyance Project, after major push back from environmental groups to not move forward. Read the MWD press release here. Formerly known as the California WaterFix, the Delta Conveyance Project is one-tunnel project that will securely transport water from the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta (Delta) to Southern California. The Delta provides nearly one-third of Southern California's water supply, serving 19 million residents. Because the Delta's infrastructure is out of date and climate change, potential earthquakes and severe storms threaten its reliability, a one-tunnel project is needed to protect its supplies. It is imperative the project keeps moving forward in order for us to receive the affordable water needed to support our $1.6 trillion economy. BizFed would like to thank the many members who submitted letters, called board offices and testified at the Board meeting. Without your collective voices it's possible this project would not have moved forward. We hope you find this information valuable. If you have any questions, please contact sarah.wiltfong@bizfed.org. Sincerely, Tracy Hernandez Founding CEO, BizFed
