In 2016, BizFed members stopped SB 1387 (De Leon), an environmental power grab which sought to add three state-appointed board members to the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD), attempting to shift local control over critical regional air quality planning from duly elected city and county representatives to state lawmakers. Over 100 organizations mobilized against this legislation and defeated it in the 11th hour. Read our 2016 coalition letter here.
Now the state is at it again, this time as bill SB 342 (Gonzalez) - which will add two additional state-appointed environmental justice board members to the SCAQMD - undermining local control and the voice of industry.
We need your help!
Please add your logo to our coalition in opposition to this power grab. We submitted a letter to the Senate Environmental Quality Committee this week, and need more logos as the bill moves through the committee process.
We hope you will re-join us against this legislation. If you have any questions, please contact sarah.wiltfong@bizfed.org.
