At this very moment, BizFed Founding CEO Tracy Rafter is with Speaker Toni Atkins and Secretary of Transportation Brian Kelly representing the business community’s voice during their LA Times editorial board meeting about the State Legislature’s Transportation Special Session.
Following that, at 11 a.m., BizFed leaders will join Speaker Atkins, Secretary Kelly, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, and Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda Solis for a press conference highlighting the need to address our critical transportation infrastructure needs. Ruben Gonzalez, LA Area Chamber of Commerce, will be among the speakers, and he’ll be joined by Pam O’Connor, SCAG;Brad Jensen, San Gabriel Valley Economic Partnership; Sam Olivito, California Contract Cities Association; as well as Tracy and a long list of elected officials from cities throughout LA County.
Finally, at 1 p.m., the LA Area Chamber of Commerce will host a roundtable discussion on the Transportation Special Session featuringAssemblymembers Bloom, Calderon, Gomez, Jones-Sawyer, O’Donnell, Rendon, and Santiago. The roundtable will include discussion panels featuring the following BizFed or BizFed Institute leaders:
- Hasan Ikhrata, Executive Director of the Southern California Association of Governments
- Santa Monica Council Member Pam O’Connor, former Metro Board Chair, SCAG
- Ruben Gonzalez, Senior VP, LA Area Chamber of Commerce
