The California Air Resources Board (ARB) has consolidation plans for their El Monte facility and is looking for a new site location. It is narrowed down to Riverside and Cal Poly Pomona. If ARB moves to Riverside, LA County loses approximately 400 skilled jobs.
The possibility of ARB relocating to Cal Poly Pomona campus brings not only the opportunities of student internships and faculty partnerships to the university, it also keeps 400 skilled jobs in LA County and the accompanying economic development associated with these jobs (housing, childcare, retail, etc.). ARB relocating to Riverside would take these jobs outside of LA County.
The BizFed Board voted to support the ARB staff recommendation to relocate its facility to Cal Poly Pomona.
On March 17, the ARB Board indicated that it is leaning against their staff’s recommendation to select Cal Poly Pomona, so please use our support letter below to submit your own comments of support by 5 p.m. tomorrow!
