BizFed Board opposes City of Industry housing requirements bill, SB 1236

SB 1236, a bill which wouldlimit to 5 percent the amount of City of Industry housing that can be occupied by city officers, will cut City Council compensation in half, and would also re-zone land from heavy industrial to residential use. This creates unintended consequences that will negatively impact the 2,500 business and almost 80,000 employees that operate there everyday. As such, the BizFed Board voted to oppose this measure, and believes firmly that these mandates go directly against the city’s best interest. SB 1236 sets a dangerous precedent, where the state can insert themselves into the land-use decisions of a single charter city and that alone has the potential to impact any city in the state.
