Local business group Bizfed released a poll today, in which Santa Monica was elected the most business unfriendly place in LA County.

Bizfed describes itself as a grassroots alliance which represents more than 275,000 businesses, industry trade groups, chambers of commerce, ethnic business groups, business districts and independent companies. It says its member include nearly 3 million employees across all 88 cities in Los Angeles County. Grassroots alliance of over 155 diverse business groups.

The five biggest concerns of business people include:

1. Taxes and Fees

2. Transportation

3. Government Regulation/Compliance

4. Education

5. Public Infrastructure (Roads, rail, bridges, waterways, etc.)

The results reveals a broad disconnect between how businesses view the business outlook and employment outlook in Los Angeles County.

New train will bring in more people, but more business is uncertain

About two-thirds of respondents (64 percent) expect business conditions will be either significantly or slightly better than 2015, the survey results indicated. But fewer than half (41 percent) plan to hire this year, and an additional 41 percent of respondents anticipated “no significant change” in employment outlook for 2016.

The no. 1 issue in Los Angeles for the 7th consecutive year is Taxes and Fees. Rounding out the top 5: Transportation, Government Regulation/Compliance, Education, and Public Infrastructure.

BizFed represents more than 155 chambers, trade associations, minority business groups, economic development organizations, and business improvement districts in Los Angeles, says Alex Wagner, VP for Bizfed
