Penny Pritzker serves as the 38th U.S. Secretary of Commerce.

Under President Obama’s leadership, Secretary Pritzker has worked to transform the Department of Commerce into a true Department of Business. During her tenure, the Department has expanded trade and investment, opened global markets to American products, unleashed government data to drive growth, spurred innovation with new digital tools, promoted entrepreneurship, expanded skills training and workforce development, and helped communities prepare for and prosper in a changing environment.

Before joining the Obama Administration, Secretary Pritzker spent 27 years in the private sector. She served as CEO of PSP Capital Partners and developed companies in diverse sectors such as luxury living for older adults, off-site airport parking, and financial information services.

Secretary Pritzker earned her bachelor’s degree in economics from Harvard University and J.D. and M.B.A. degrees from Stanford University. She and her husband Dr. Bryan Traubert have two children.
