Senate Bill 57 (Stern) would extend the moratorium on natural gas injections at Aliso Canyon until the root cause analysis of the leak at well SS-25 is complete. However, the root cause analysis is independent of the safety of the facility could result in energy shortages throughout the LA region.
Aliso Canyon is the largest natural gas storage facility in California. Millions of customers—such as electric generators, refineries, manufacturers, hospitals and transit operators—rely on this service for their daily energy needs. The BizFed Executive Committee voted to oppose SB 57.
