ACTION ALERT - Stop Linkage Fee in the City of Los Angeles
Thank you to BizFed member DeAndre Valencia at the Building Industry Association leading this effort in submitting a diverse coalition letter.
Last year, BizFed voted to oppose attempts by the City of LA to include a linkage fee to the cost of new development. Currently the City of LA is considering a linkage fee of $12 per square foot on new homes and $5 per square foot on commercial development. This fee will increase the already sky-high cost of doing business, drive up rents, and worsen our housing shortage. These are three of the top 5 concerns about what is stifling our economy according to business owners and leaders like yourself who recently took our annual BizFed poll.
1. Please review the attached coalition letter already signed by BizFed, BIA, Apartment Association of Greater Los Angeles, Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce, NAIOP and VICA and reply with your support and your organization’s logo for inclusion in the letter. Please send your organization logos and expressed support by Tuesday, June 6th at 9am to De’Andre Valencia dvalencia@bialav.org
2. We all need your help to show the City Council that we can’t afford higher housing costs in Los Angeles.
