Next Thursday, the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s (Metro) board of directors will make a key decision to purchase a brand new fleet of buses. This bus purchase procurement is one of the first major investments through Measure M that taxpayers supported last year. It is important that the Metro Board hears and physically sees business community leaders at this June meeting and subsequent related meetings in July.

BACKGROUND
- BizFed's position takes a balanced approach, We support the Metro Board's objective to test a pilot of electric buses for the Orange and Silver Line Bus Rapid Transit corridors and renewable natural gas for the rest of the bus network for service reliability and operational efficiency to transit riders and taxpayers.
- LA Metro Buses which are already the cleanest in the nation will be even cleaner with this new procurement of renewable natural gas and electric buses which will further help California meet its ambitious greenhouse gas reduction goals and can be done immediately and cost-effectively.
- The most significant emissions reduction will not come from the bus technology it will come from people leaving their cars at home and taking transit.
- Having a reliable and dependable Metro bus fleet is vital for our employers and workers mobility which contribute greatly to our local economy.
