Dear Friend,
The California Air Resources Board (CARB) in late September adopted the final blueprint for the Community Air Protection Program (AB 617). The landmark environmental legislation identifies specific communities in California effected by air pollution and directs CARB to work with local districts, residents and community members to reduce emissions in that area. To learn more, view CARB’s factsheet here.
Part of the program involves creating local steering communities who give feedback to the SCAQMD on ways to help reduce emissions in the area. We need to make sure business is at the table! If you live, have a business or represent businesses in any of these areas – we need your voice! Fill out an application and submit it to the AQMD by clicking here: Due dates for applications:
Please let BizFed’s Sarah Wiltfong know that you are submitting an application by emailing her at sarah.wiltfong@bizfed.org. The SCAQMD also is holding a series of community kickoff meetings and has already set the first steering committee dates. If you are interested in attending any of these meetings, please see the list below.
We hope you and your business or association will be a part of this process. If you have any questions about the program and/or BizFed’s position, please contact Sarah Wiltfong at sarah.wiltfong@bizfed.org who is the policy manager on this issue. Sincerely, |
