ACTION ALERT: Protect Water and Jobs – OPPOSE SB 307

Share This :

The legislature is after the Cadiz Water Project again - a project that would create over 5,000 new jobs and supply water for 400,000 people in Southern California. SB 307 (Stern) seeks to create a new undefined certification process for water conveyed in California’s water transportation systems. This would negatively impact the Cadiz Water Project which has been extensively studied, independently and publicly-reviewed, and approved under California’s environmental laws.Following a multi-year public California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) review process, Cadiz Water Project operations were determined to have no significant adverse environmental impacts of any kind. This makes SB 307 unnecessary and will only delay a much needed project instead of adding any relevant protections. Diverse water sources are pivotal to Southern California's water portfolio. At a time when new water infrastructure should be encouraged and supported, the state legislature continues to place roadblocks towards progress. SB 307 will be heard in the Senate Natural Resources and Water Committee Tuesday, March 26th. Please let the California State Legislature know that you support the Cadiz Water Project and OPPOSE SB 307. Thank you for supporting the Cadiz Water Project.
