BizFed needs your help to call Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon and Assembly Rules Chair [Assemblymember] Ken Cooley and respectfully request they release SB 15 and assign it to a policy committee. California is in a housing crisis and we need SB 15 more than ever!

Here are a few ways you can help (all or any of the below actions are most welcome):

1) Call Speaker Anthony Rendon's Capitol Office: (916) 319-2063 and Assembly Rules Chair Assemblymember Ken Cooley's Capitol Office: (916) 319-2008 and request they release SB 15 to be heard in policy committee.

Sample Script:

"Hi, my name is ______________ and I am a member of the business community. I am calling to request Speaker Rendon/Assemblymember Cooley release SB 15 by Senator Anthony Portantino from Assembly Rules Committee and assign it to a policy committee. California is in a housing crisis and SB 15 seeks to build more housing at a time when we need it the most. Thank you for taking my comments.

2) Post on Twitter:

#SB15 by Sen. @Portantino is currently being held by Speaker @Rendon63rd and Asm. @KenCooley in Asm. Rules Cmte. We need @BizFed sponsored SB15 more than ever to build more housing and address the crisis.

#SB15 by Sen. @Portantino and sponsored by @BizFed would give local cities incentives and reward them for converting idle buildings to housing. @Rendon63rd @KenCooley, we need this bill now! #HousingNow

The lack of affordable housing is a major issue for employers. #SB15 is the innovative bill we need right now to keep jobs in the golden state. Join @Portantino and @BizFed in calling on @Rendon63rd and @KenCooley to release SB15.

From 2015-2025, 1.8 million new housing units will be needed to meet projected population and household growth, or 180,000 new homes annually. Join @Portantino and @BizFed to request @Rendon63rd and @KenCooley release #SB15 from Rules Committee.

#SB15 by @Portantino seeks to construct housing on land formerly used by retailers AND gives local cities incentives who convert these sites to housing. It's a win-win! Join @BizFed in requesting @Rendon63rd @KenCooley release SB15.

The imbalance between supply and demand has driven CA housing costs to be the highest in the nation. We need #SB15 by @Portantino @BizFed more than ever! @Rendon63rd @KenCooley, we need your leadership to move this bill forward.

Background:

In December 2020, Senator Anthony Portantino introduced SB 15 to create more housing in California and address the crisis that we remain in. Sponsored by BizFed, this is our legislative priority for the year. SB 15 has cleared the full Senate 38-0, however, it is currently being held by the Assembly Rules Committee under their purview without any clear explanation.

Thank you for your ongoing voice,

Founding CEO
