ACTION ALERT: Stop costly bill that dismantles Emissions Reduction Credits

Share This :

Our friends at BizFed Central Valley need our help NOW to defeat a costly, duplicative bill impacting thousands of statewide facilities including public agencies, water districts, food producers, medical facilities, and more. BizFed was an early and loud opposer of AB 985 (Arambula), which seeks to make unsustainable changes to the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District's emissions offsets program.

It's one of two bills proposed by Assemblymember Joaquin Arambula that hurt businesses and strip local authority from the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District.

AB 650 died last week in committee, but AB 985 passed out of committee and is now in Appropriations.

  • It presents a significant threat to businesses that benefit from Emissions Reduction Credits (ERCs).
  • It limits the availability of ERCs, which are required for the permitting of essential public services provided by hospitals, wastewater treatment facilities, power plants, and composting facilities.
  • It could set dangerous state precedent.
