Recently, BizFed's Executive Committee took a position AGAINST the Bureau of Gambling Control’s proposed removal of some Blackjack/21 games at card rooms in California. Currently, these games are legally permitted and have been so for over 20 years. BizFed has submitted a letter to Attorney General Xavier Becerra indicating the massive economic consequences this move will create. Casinos/Card Rooms make up a large portion of their city’s general fund revenue and this action will greatly reduce municipal funding. Furthermore, many small businesses will be hurt by the diminished card rooms including food and beverage, cleaning services and other vendors. This is why local and state elected officials, local chambers of commerce and BizFed stand up and say no to this egregious and sudden regulation. It is imperative that you send your letters to the Bureau of Gaming controls as soon as possible. The Attorney General has the discretion to enact any new card game regulations at any time! Submit Letters via email to GamblingControl@doj.ca.gov November 13, 2018 The Honorable Xavier Becerra California Attorney General Department of Justice Attn: Bureau of Gambling Controls PO Box 168024 Sacramento, CA  95816-8024 RE: OPPOSE Changes to permitted card room games Dear Attorney General Becerra, On the behalf of my organization/company, ________________________________,  we write with extreme consternation as our local card rooms face potential changes to current games offered. My organization/company heavily OPPOSES the removal of Blackjack/21 or any other currently permitted card game in California card rooms. Card rooms in Los Angeles County make up a large portion of revenue for multiple municipalities. For example, in the city of Hawaiian Gardens, the Casino brings in 75% of the total general fund revenue and the Commerce Casino generates 42% for the City of Commerce. Many of these communities are disadvantaged and these cuts to general funds would hinder important services such as police, fire and community development. It is difficult to comprehend how these new regulations could be implemented with such a sudden impact to our community, without there being a thorough economic impact study. The cities who rely on these tax revenues as their major source of funding will be heavily impacted almost immediately. Many of our member businesses/employees are also supported by their association with the Casinos in their communities. These new regulations will undoubtedly have an enormous impact on these small businesses. Thank you for taking the time to understand the severe gravity of this situation. Sincerely, Your Name Tracy Hernandez http://bizfed.nationbuilder.com/
