INFO ALERT: Job-killer bill heads to Senate — join our fight!

Share This :

The battle against one of this year's most harmful job-killer bills is ramping up. AB 2840 (Reyes) is set to move to the Senate after squeaking out of the Assembly yesterday with 41 votes. We applaud Assemblymembers Bigelow, Chen, Choi, Cooley, Cunningham, Megan Dahle, Davies, Flora, Fong, Gallagher, Gray, Kiley, Lackey, Mathis, Mayes, Medina, Nguyen, Patterson, Ramos, Salas, Seyarto, Smith, Valladares, Voepel, and Waldronbelow for voting NO on this bill.

BizFed stood with a diverse group of coalition members including farmers, chambers of commerce, goods movement leaders, and labor union representatives – and were able persuade Asm. Eloise Gómez Reyes to publicly commit to amending the bill to only include San Bernardino and Riverside counties.

While we appreciate the willingness of the author to narrow the scope of the proposed legislation, this is not enough. The Inland Empire plays a critical role in maintaining our regional supply chain integrity. If passed in its current form, AB 2840 will push critical infrastructure farther from population centers, halt local development, disrupt the goods movement sector, and set dangerous precedent with the potential to impact all commercial real estate development.

We want to thank the many organizations that have stepped up to protect our economy, jobs, and supply chain. If you would like to join our growing coalition as we prepare to fight this bill in the Senate, please send your logos to chris.wilson@bizfed.org.
