We are glad to report that Assembly Bills 2379 and 2500 are officially dead! AB 2379 (Bloom), this bill  would have required clothing with 50% or more polyester to contain a label that says it contributes to marine pollution, failed to get out of the Assembly this week and did not meet the house of origin deadline. That means the bill is officially dead. The intent of the bill was to help hinder microfiber pollution in our waterway but instead the bill would only cause harm to businesses and open them up to costly lawsuits. The effort is not over, this bill will likely come back in the future, but for now our efforts have worked against this misguided bill. AB 2500 (Kalra), this bill would have prohibited California Financing Law (CFL) licensees from receiving charges on a consumer loan at a rate exceeding 36% annual interest for a loan with a bona fide principal amount of more than $2,500 but less than $5,000. This bill failed to get out of the Assembly this week and did not meet the house of origin deadline. That means the bill is officially dead. As always we want to thank our membership for your advocacy. We will continue to give updates on other legislative victories and losses over the next few weeks. Stay tuned, Tracy Hernandez http://bizfed.nationbuilder.com/
