Lupita Sánchez Cornejo is director of external affairs for AT&T, focusing on legislative and community affairs for the Los Angeles region. In this role, she serves as the company’s governmental liaison for elected and administrative officials in the City of Los Angeles. She is also responsible for legislative activities and issues involving the Los Angeles Board of Education. Ms. Cornejo joined AT&T California in 2000. She represents the company on a variety of organizations and boards, including the California Forensic Science Institute at California State University, Los Angeles; the Los Angeles Community Development Department’s Community Advisory Board; the California Hispanic Corporate Council; the Los Angeles Workforce Investment Board’s Youth Advisory Council; and PADRES Contra El Cáncer (Parents Against Cancer). Prior to joining AT&T, Ms. Cornejo served as assistant deputy mayor to Los Angeles Mayor Richard J. Riordan and as the mayor’s key liaison to the Latino community. She received her bachelor’s degree in political science and a Master of Public Administration from USC. In 1994, she was named to USC’s Order of Troy for her academic excellence, leadership and extraordinary service and commitment.
