The diverse companies and organizations we represent are global citizens committed to the success of democracy. In that spirit, BizFed moves swiftly to take bold action on a broad spectrum of issues far beyond the scope of local business concerns. We’re proud to share that BizFed’s Board of Directors voted this week to issue the statement below, written collaboratively by BizFed members, condemning Hamas terrorism.
We invite you to circulate our statement and the list of
organizations providing assistance among your own networks.
Our diverse membership of job creators and civic leaders strongly condemns the violent, calculated and unprovoked attack by the terrorist organization Hamas on the Jewish people and the State of Israel. We grieve with the families of those who died, pray for those injured and hope for the safe return of those Hamas has taken hostage, who include babies, Holocaust survivors and individuals with severe physical disabilities. It is heartbreaking to witness the slaughter of innocent civilians, including newborn babies, children, women and the elderly.
BizFed strongly supports Israel’s right to defend itself and to bring to justice the Hamas terrorists who committed these atrocities. We condemn Hamas’s acts of hatred and violence and its use of innocent Palestinians as human shields. We express our concern for the people of Gaza, whom Hamas cynically continues to oppress and use as pawns in its terrorist regime. We reject any moral equivalence between Hamas’s horrific attack and actions Israel takes in self-defense to prevent attacks like this from ever happening again. We stand in solidarity with the people of Israel.
The Los Angeles County Business Federation, better known as “BizFed,”” is an independent, nonprofit, non-governmental grassroots advocacy organization that comprises more than 240 business organizations representing 420,000 companies with 5 million employees in Southern California and beyond. The diverse communities we serve include the third-largest Jewish community in the world and the world’s largest Israeli diaspora community. BizFed condemns any antisemitism–in word and deed–that stems from this war. We condemn hatred and bigotry in all forms.
We encourage support for organizations providing humanitarian assistance and other resources to alleviate this suffering, including the list of groups compiled by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation.
The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously yesterday to approve a resolution – the same day BizFed leaders voted to approve our statement – condemning the surprise attack by Hamas against Israel.
