You're likely hearing this here first. We have major news to break about the appointment of a BizFed leader to an impactful role within the Bass administration. This should pique the interest of all members, within and beyond the city of Los Angeles, because of the position's jurisdiction over goods movement, trade, and travel hubs.
Rachel is Senior Vice President for Real Estate at Tejon Ranch Company and serves as Co-Chair of BizFed's Land Use/Housing/Development/Real Estate/CEQA Committee. In her new capacity as a deputy mayor, Rachel will oversee the city's economic and business agenda, along with advancement of land use, trade, and tourism goals. Her areas of oversight will include Los Angeles World Airports and the Port of LA's non-safety operations.
We issued several Info Alerts encouraging BizFed members to seek our endorsements for this post, as well as openings on the city's Jobs & Economy Advisory Council. We applaud all members who expressed interest in serving and took full advantage of this opportunity to advance their resumes for consideration. We vetted and forwarded all member recommendations to Mayor Bass's office.
We'll close with a final piece of welcome news that benefits the broad business community's goals. Kevin Keller, the Bass administration's Transition Deputy Mayor of Economic Development, will stay on as a senior advisor to the mayor and help implement strategies to streamline the approval of affordable housing permits.
