Dear Friend, AB 1180, the bill that would grant tax authority to the flood control district, has passed the Senate and Assembly and is on it's way to the Governors desk. After meeting with county officials, the author and several attempts to contact the state legislature, we need to make our voices heard to the Governor! Our amendments to AB 1180 are not unreasonable - they offer fair protections to the very people who will be paying for the tax the bill authorizes the district to make. If a tax measure does go on the ballot in 2018 - we want to make sure the money goes towards the bills intended purpose - storm water capture and water resiliency - and not unnecessary side projects. Please see letters to the governor from BizFed and CICWQ for your reference by clicking here. Send your own letter to leg.unit@gov.ca.gov asking for Governor Brown to VETO AB1180. If you have any questions please contact Sarah Wiltfong at Sarah.Wiltfong@bizfed.org. Tracy Hernandez Founding CEO, BizFed |
